Comment From The Group CEO

The history of Africawide

It speaks volumes for the drive to grow and retain our reputation as industry innovators. 2017 has ensured this remains true. In the past 12 months, Africawide made many leaps and bounds and is on course to attaining our vision of being a serious service provider of choice, serving the continent and drawing on local and continental talent and expertise in equal measure.

The above is not a cliché but merely seeks to articulate the dedication and loyalty of each and every individual in the business to the vision of Africawide. There have been some very exciting partnerships, acquisitions, and collaborations. These will help us on our journey to becoming the most sought-after consulting partner on the continent. We are heading into new territories as a Group both geographically and industry-wise.

The Africawide Trust Foundation
In line with the Africawide ethos of Ubuntu and knowledge-sharing, the Africawide Trust Foundation was launched last year. The Foundation is proudly mentoring five budding entrepreneurs, working their way through the mentorship programme. The mentees in the Foundation are all black, female- owned small enterprises who required guidance on how to scale up their businesses and improve their overall chance of success. We wish them all success on their journey and look forward to them joining the ranks of established businesses in the near future.

Staff Moves
As with any growing and developing organisation there are bound to be movements in staff, and this year has been no different. On that note, I would like to personally bid Tanaka a fond farewell from the Africawide family. Her service and dedication has helped build the business in which we are all part of today.

We welcome George, as the newest Director of Africawide Holdings. George and I have worked together for many years, and he brings a host of skills and years of experience to our team.

Through our constant drive to grow, I am happy to announce some promotions within the business. Martin is now an Associate Principal; Kefiloe has been appointed Africawide’s representative Director in the new business that we acquired in the FinTech space, Africawide Fintech.

Africawide Engineering through the Africawide Foundation has also made some exciting forays into the Automotive Space with the acquisition of a stake in an exciting start-up. More on this will be revealed later in the year.

What is in store for 2018?
The only way to ensure success is to ensure a pipeline of new business as well as top tier talent. The team has worked tirelessly in creating the platform for a productive, and dare I say it, even more successful 2018.

We are in the final stages of relocating to new premises. The new office space is large enough for all of us to work together under one roof. We are quite confident that this move will alleviate some of the operational challenges that we have experienced in the past. Thank you to the team who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the move is a success.

To our clients, team members, and other stakeholders, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your individual and collective contribution to our success. Success is not purely about improving the bottom line. It is about taking constructive feedback and using it to better ourselves, all the while remaining focused on that which makes us distinctive and unique in our chosen area of endeavour.
